Do You Know THIS New Chat App Works Without Internet

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has launched a Bluetooth-based messaging app that works without an internet connection. The app, called BitChat, allows iPhone users to communicate privately and anonymously without an internet connection.

What is BitChat?

The BitChat app is currently available in beta through Apple’s TestFlight. Reports say that 10,000 users have started testing BitChat since the beta version was launched. The app works using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh networks. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) mesh networks allow nearby smartphones to form clusters that send encrypted messages to each other. It works completely differently from existing chatting apps like WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal. This app works even without internet, mobile number or account.

It is a completely peer-to-peer (P2P) Bluetooth-based messaging app. Its biggest feature is that it has no servers, cloud storage or censorship. This technology connects users directly without any internet connection or network coverage. It is currently available to iPhone users through iOS’s TestFlight program. And its open source code will be released on GitHub soon.

How does BitChat work?

BitChat does not use Wi-Fi or mobile data. It is based on Bluetooth mesh networking. Where nearby BitChat users connect to each other and forward messages. If you are near someone who has BitChat installed, your message can reach the next user through that device. This means that it is a completely new way of messaging that can be very useful even in natural disasters, internet outages or areas with censorship.

Privacy and security

Messages sent on BitChat with end-to-end encryption, like WhatsApp, are stored locally on the user’s phone. And do not go to any server. The most important thing is that to use this app, no phone number or email login is required. That is, the user’s identity is completely hidden. This app is a great relief for those who are wary of digital tracking and data theft.

Is this app a threat to WhatsApp?

Currently, BitChat has limited scope. It is only available in beta on iOS. So it hasn’t been able to become a direct alternative to WhatsApp or Telegram. However, this initiative by Jack Dorsey will play a crucial role in the future of messaging apps. As people become more aware of censorship, data privacy, and network dependency, the demand for platforms like BitChat may increase.
