On Thursday, Xiaomi introduced the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. They are available alongside the regular 17 in China. The two flagships are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. It also features a distinctive rear M10 display.
HyperIsland is Xiaomi’s version of Dynamic Island and allows users to access notifications. The 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have partnered with Leica to have two of the best camera setups in a smartphone on the market. The device starts at CNY 4,999 for their Pro version and CNY 5,999 for their Pro Max version. They are available in colors such as White, Black, Cold Smoke Purple, and Forest Green. For the 17 Pro, Xiaomi offers the 12GB+256GB configuration for CNY 4,999, 12GB+512GB is CNY 5,299, 16GB+512GB is CNY 5,599 and the last configuration available is 16GB+ 1TB which is CNY 5,999.
For the 17 Pro Max model, the 12GB+512GB version is CNY 5,999, for the 16GB+512GB version it will cost CNY 6,299 and finally the 16GB+1TB version is CNY 6,999. As of now, customers will be able to purchase these devices from the Chinese mainland in just a few days.
They come pre-installed with HyperOS 3 over Android 16. HyperIsland can manipulate animations for notifications connected to the selfie camera. The Magic Back Screen can reach a brightness of 3,500 nits on the rear compartment of the device.
Users will be able to create AI portraits on the exterior screen, pin notes, and preview selfies taken with the rear camera on the exterior screen. Some other functions include using the device as an alarm clock and controlling media playback, which is solely intended for the rear screen functionality.
The 17 Pro Max provides a 6.9 inch 2K display and the 17 Pro has a 6.3 inch display to speed up display response time. It can also withstand protection from day-to-day accidents or falls with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass. The 17 Pro Max is 8mm thick and weight is held at 192 grams. The build has natural IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers both devices. Constructed with a 3nm process to maximise speed. Up to 16GB of RAM for seamless task management. Storage options reach 1TB of capacity. In-display fingerprint scanner for easy unlocking.
Leica has tuned triple rear cameras. Leading with a 50MP Light Hunter 950L primary. 50MP ultra-wide fanned alongside 50MP periscope telephoto that provides 5x optical zoom. 50MP selfies taken with the front camera will look crisp and vibrant.
17 Pro Max packs a respectable 6,300mAh battery. The 17 Pro boasts a larger 7,500mAh battery. The Pro supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. Devices have 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C connectivity and added UWB for precision.
