On August 2, a truck full of Samsung devices was stolen in close proximity to London Heathrow Airport.
The truck contained approximately 12,000 Samsung devices. This included Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy S25, A16 devices, and more. Among these, roughly 5,000 were new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 phones. The lots were some of the latest Galaxy Watches, and popular phone devices.
The estimated value of the stolen goods is anywhere between 9 to 10 million euros. That amounts to more than ₹100 crore in Indian currency rupees.
Samsung’s last released foldable phones, alone cost more than ₹1 lakh each. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 cost between ₹1,74,999 to ₹1,86,999. The Flip 7 is in the range of ₹1,09,999 to ₹1,21,999 depending on storage specification. The Galaxy S25 starts at ₹80,999 in India.
While on route from Heathrow Airport to a distribution facility, someone stopped the truck and commandeered it. Later, police recovered the container but with all Samsung products belonging to the vehicles missing. The complete truck is still missing, and suspects are also unknown. Authorities felt it was a planned and deliberate operation.
Samsung has made clear they have all lost devices insured, which limits their financial loss. The company has also blacklisted all IMEI from the stolen phones. This means that the phones can’t be activated or used on any network.
By changing IMEI the stolen phones are rendered almost useless as resale items to others, and are more than likely going to be blocked in the future to remove for their use as invented opportunities. As well as, prevented from coming into contact with devices stolen, and then breaking the law.
The UK police have initiated a investigation into the theft. There have been not arrests at this time. Samsung has recognized this theft happened however, no official public statement has been released yet. The police investigation has been looking at security camera images and log materials. The investigators believe there is more than one person committing this crime. The investigation is still active investigation.
