Microsoft is shifting how we think about computers in the future. Recently, it showcased its version of the future Windows with an AI-centered design.
Microsoft produced a video called “Windows 2030 Vision” where it shows how computers will operate differently over the next five years. The video prefaces some massive updates coming to Windows through Artificial Intelligence (AI).
David Weston, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President for Enterprise and Security also presented in the video about the future. He explains how AI will allow users to use computers in different and more natural ways.
Weston explains that the next generations of Windows will not use mouse and keyboard as inputs. He feels it will be able to understand what you are seeing, hearing, and saying. You will talk to your computer and it will behave like it understands you. The new AI-driven experience is called “Agentic AI”. It will be a new way of experiencing a desktop that will work with voice, touch and gestures.
Weston even says mouse and keyboard will feel antiquated in the near future. You might say, for example, “Open email” and your email will immediately appear. To move a file you would simply point your finger and it will happen on the screen. The system will understand hand gestures and verbal commands.
Windows 2030 will implement a multimodal experience! You’ll be able to speak, touch or even show your computer what you want it to do! AI will be able to interpret simultaneous pieces of input. This will give you new levels of speed, ease of interaction, and humanity. The new system will help you manage your tasks, emails, files, and workflows with intelligent assistance.
Computers will feel more personal, connected to your needs; no more learning of commands, just talk to your device. AI will create computers that are smarter, faster and more helpful. This is not sci-fi; this is what Microsoft has planned in the coming years.
