The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G and the Apple iPhone 16e are two of the best-selling flagship phones in 2025. The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G has many great features for a decent price. The iPhone 16e has the Apple quality and Apple ecosystem. Both phones are very capable mid-range devices.
At Rs. 49,999, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G has a capable camera array, a large AMOLED experience, and a used smartphone-level processor. While the iPhone 16e has Apple’s A18 chip, a smaller device at a whopping 59,990 price point with a great camera as well.
Apple’s iPhone 16e was unveiled in India as a budget flagship. The phone has a lot of things going for it, but there might be a few things to account for. On the other hand, Oppo’s Reno 14 Pro 5G has received its share of great flagship attention and has some notable features. Let’s see if the Oppo will shine or the iPhone.
Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G has an attractive design, especially the color changing glass on the back, with an aluminum frame and boasts it’s a super slim 7.5mm. It weighs in around 201 grams. iPhone 16e boasts a great premium look with its relatively smaller design. It utilizes glass and aluminum in their designs same as the Reno. The iPhone weighs in 167 grams, allowing for easier handling. In terms of display, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G is better. It uses a 6.83-inch LTPS AMOLED screen offering a 120Hz refresh rate and boasts a 1.5K resolution.
It similarly offers a peak brightness of 1200 nits in High Brightness Mode. The iPhone 16e has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a 1200 nits peak brightness, too.
The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G comes with a triple rear camera system, which consists of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 50MP telephoto camera with a 3.5x optical zoom. The front camera is also 50MP, which is very nice. This is a very strong camera because of the zoom and wide-angle positions.
The camera system of the iPhone 16e is not as good. It has a single 48MP rear camera with 2x in-camera zoom, and a 12MP front camera. The iPhone will take nice pictures for you, but the camera system is not as powerful compared to the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G. The magic happens through Apple processing, but because it is an Apple product, it will take high-quality photos.
The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G has an MediaTek Dimensity 8450 processor and up to 16GB RAM onboard. This chip will provide smooth operation with demanding apps. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16e utilizes Apple’s latest A18 chip with 8GB RAM onboard.
While the A18 chip is a flagship-level processor, the Mediatek chip in the Oppo, provides good enough day-to-day and gaming performance. In terms of battery life, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G beats the iPhone 16e with a 6200mAh battery, so it lasts much longer without charging. The iPhone 16e has a smaller battery than the Oppo at only 4005mAh, but both phones provide all day battery life.
The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G is Rs. 49,999, which makes it a good value for money flagship versus the iPhone 16e which starts at a higher Rs. 59,990 for the base model.
Both of these phones are pretty good phones. The Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G has a better display, camera versatility, and bigger battery. The iPhone 16e has a slightly better build quality; i.e. size is more compact and also Apple’s A18 that is very good for high-end tasking.
If you want an affordable feature packed flagship with good battery life, the Oppo Reno 14 Pro 5G would be my winner. But if you are leaning toward Apple’s ecosystem with good software experience the iPhone 16e is still a pretty good option.
