These Common Technologies Are Dying Faster Than You Think

These Common Technologies Are Dying Faster Than You Think

Technology changes rapidly. It continuously updates old technologies, with new innovation. Remember cassette tapes and floppy disks? They were once a staple of most households? Now, they are nothing but the past. Many of the technologies we use today will share the same fate. Let’s take a look at three things that will most likely go the way of the dinosaur.

Say Goodbye to Your Charging Cables

The unwound mass of cables is soon to be a thing of the past. Wireless technology is progressing rapidly. Many new phones support various wireless charging. Some phone manufacturers are even discontinuing putting charger hardware in the box. This just serves to grease the wheels toward wireless technology. The amount of consumers that are buying and using wireless power pads are rapidly increasing. Within a couple of years, we will be looking at mostly (or fully) charging cable-free technology.

The End of Remote Controls

Voice control is swapping out physical remotes for many types of devices. You can now easily voice command the TV. Smart speakers that utilize Google or Alexa now can control many devices at once, even without using the remote for any devices. Newer appliances are even combining voice command technology in the infrastructure of the appliance itself. The average remote control will likely be gone from the living room before long.

Death of Passwords

We all want to learn our complex passwords! Password security is outdated and we know it is an inferior method of securing personal data. Using biometric authentication methods is a superior choice to continue protecting personal information. Fingerprint scanning and facial recognition have become mainstream ways of gaining access to devices and data. They offer faster and safer means to access your devices. The big platforms are pushing to move us away from passwords, and we will soon live in a password-free world.

A Natural Progression

This type of progression is typical. Technology is in a constant state of searching for and delivering a better way. Technology strives for the most convenient way to use resources and protect security – and enhance experiences. Something essential today may not be essential tomorrow. We just have to continue making ourselves out of making these adaptations. In technology, this is the human experience in the old-fashioned and pure definition of the social progress we will embrace.

Time to Welcome Change

Innovation occurs at the speed of life, and we should embrace the shift the technology brings. Technology continues to make our everyday lives easier and more secure. Some of these benefits may upset our old habits and social practices, but you will soon understand the benefits they offer. Be prepared for a future that offers us wireless, voice-controlled, and biometric-enabled confirmations of life and its experiences.
