Using Google Maps is Dangerous- Here’s Why

Using Google Maps is Dangerous- Here’s Why

Google Maps: As new technology becomes available, human life is becoming more convenient. Once upon a time, we had to go to malls to shop, to shops to buy household goods, to hotels to get food. But now technology has changed everything. With a cell phone in hand, we can get anything right from where we are sitting. But overconfidence in this technology is sometimes the cause of accidents. A similar incident recently took place in Telangana. In this regard, here are 5 precautions that must be followed while using maps.

This is what happens if you blindly trust Google Maps

Some young men from Nagpur area of Maharashtra were going to Tirupati by car. They did not know how to go to Tirumala, so they opened Google Maps. They followed the directions it showed and started going. Also blindly trusted Google Maps without checking the surrounding conditions and the warning signs on the roadside.

The youths were following Google Maps and were on their way to Tirumala via Telangana when they met with an accident. The car in which the youths were travelling fell into a deep hole near a bridge under construction near Jangaon. Even though the bridge was under construction, the youths let the car go without looking back as Google Maps showed the same route. As a result, the car fell completely into the hole dug for the bridge work.

The youths in the car were injured in the accident. The police immediately reached the scene and rescued them. The injured youths were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. All the youths are currently safe. However, this accident has once again warned us about the dangers of relying too much on technology.

Google Maps has caused accidents in the past

There have been many similar incidents in the past. Many people have been involved in accidents while using Google Maps or other navigation apps in unknown areas. Tourists from Telangana have faced a similar accident in Kerala.

Precautions to take when using Google Maps
Given the dangers of Google Map, it is advisable to take precautions when using it. This can help prevent accidents. Let’s find out what precautions to take here.

1. While traveling, you should know about the route in advance, instead of relying entirely on Google Maps. Is there any road construction going on, What is the road like? Which one to choose if there are two or three routes, which route is safe to take. You should know things like this in advance.

2. Google Map may not provide information about road closures, bridges under construction, and other hazardous conditions. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to signs and warnings on the road. Drivers should especially pay attention to the conditions and seek help from locals if necessary.

3. It is not a good idea to take shortcuts on Google Map just because the distance will be reduced a little. It is better to take a known route. Don’t take risks because you don’t know what the new route will be like.

4. Asking local people about the place we are travelling to can provide useful information. We can be careful because we will know in advance if there are any dangers along the way.

5. In case of emergency, do not rely solely on Google Map and inform the police or other emergency services. If you feel that you are going the wrong route, immediately stop the vehicle on the side of the road and seek help from someone. Blindly trusting Google Maps can lead to accidents.
