Vivo has recently announced their recent foldable, the Vivo X Fold 5, for the Indian market. It will compete directly with Samsung’s latest foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Both devices are aimed at premium foldable users, but how do they stack up? Here we will compare pricing, camera specs, features, and performance to help you figure out which might be a better choice for you.
Pricing in India
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a price of Rs 1,74,999, which will get you 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The Vivo X Fold 5 base model starts at Rs 1,49,999 and comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The Vivo device is an easier pill to swallow for your wallet and has more RAM for less cash. The purchase of the Vivo telephone will kick off in India on July 30.
Camera Comparison
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a back camera system that features a 200MP main camera, a 12MP ultra wide camera, and 10MP telephoto lens. There are also two 10MP cameras located on the front for selfies and video calls, one on the cover display and one inside.
The Vivo X Fold 5 also has a triple rear camera, with three sensors all being 50MP – one main, one ultra-wide, and one periscope telephoto lens. It also has a 20MP front and cover camera for selfies.
Samsung undoubtedly has a superior rear camera setup with a 200MP main camera but Vivo is better with front cameras that have higher resolutions.
Performance and Features
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 features the Snapdragon 8 Elite, 12GB RAM, and 512GB of storage. The phone launches with Android 16 and will receive 7 major Android updates which is fantastic for longevity. It has a 4400mAh battery, 25W fast-charge support, and is the thinnest foldable phone to date at 4.2mm when opened.
On the flip side, the Vivo X Fold 5 delivers an 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 4500 nits. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It runs Android 15 with Funtouch OS and has a large 6000mAh battery that supports wired charging of 80W and 40W fast wireless charging.
