WhatsApp Just Got Smarter: New Call Features Let You Schedule, Raise Hands & React Live

WhatsApp Adds Smarter Calling Tools for Better Conversations

WhatsApp has launched a major update to its calling features, aimed at making voice and video calls more organised, interactive, and inclusive. The popular messaging app now lets users schedule calls, raise their hand to speak during group calls, and react with emojis in real time all without interrupting the conversation. “These features are designed to help people plan better and express themselves more freely during calls,” said WhatsApp in a blog post announcing the update.

Schedule Your Calls in Advance

With the new update, users can now schedule both group and one-on-one calls directly from the app. You simply open the Calls tab, select a contact or group, and tap Schedule Call. From there, you choose the type of call, pick a date and time, and confirm. Invites can be sent to individual contacts or entire groups, and everyone gets a reminder before the call starts. This makes it easier to plan meetings with friends, family, or colleagues without missing out.

WhatsApp New In-Call Tools: Raise Hand and Reactions

Group calls are getting more interactive with a new raise hand feature. Users can tap a button to signal when they want to speak helpful during large conversations where it is easy to get lost in the noise. Alongside this, WhatsApp now supports emoji reactions during calls. These let participants show how they feel in real time without having to speak up or interrupt others.

Better Call Management with the Updated Calls Tab

WhatsApp has also improved the Calls tab. It now shows all scheduled calls in one place, along with attendee names and shared invite links. Call creators get notified when someone joins using a link, making coordination easier.

As always, all calls remain protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring full privacy and security for users.
