WhatsApp New Storage Feature:
If your phone storage often runs out because of WhatsApp, here’s some good news. WhatsApp is testing a new feature to help users manage storage space more easily. With this update, users can delete large files directly from the chat window without opening multiple settings. This feature is currently available in the beta version 2.25.31.13 for Android and is expected to roll out to all users soon.
According to WABetaInfo, the new shortcut allows quick access to storage management within the chat itself. Earlier, users had to go to “Settings” and then open the “Storage and Data” tab to view used space. Now, with a single tap, users can see how much storage is being used by each chat and file type. This makes it much simpler and faster to clean up memory without navigating through multiple menus.
The new feature will show all media and documents shared in a chat. WhatsApp will also allow users to sort files by size so they can identify which ones are taking up the most space. If there are too many old photos or videos, users can delete them in bulk. This bulk delete option saves time and helps keep the phone memory clean.
There’s also an option to mark certain files as “starred.” This ensures that important media or documents are not accidentally deleted during the cleanup.
Currently, the feature is available only to selected beta testers. WhatsApp is testing its performance before releasing it to everyone. Once officially launched, this feature will make storage management simpler and more user-friendly for millions of users.
With this smart upgrade, WhatsApp aims to help users avoid constant memory issues and enjoy a smoother chatting experience.
