Anupama Parameswaran about her bold role:

Anupama Parameswaran has shared her thoughts on playing the role of Lily in the Telugu movie Tillu Square. She admitted that the role made her feel uncomfortable and underconfident. In an interview with Idlebrain, she explained how the part pushed her out of her comfort zone. Anupama mentioned that if she is offered a similar role in the future, she would decline it. She said, “If someone comes and gives me a Tillu-like character, now I won’t do it. Because I was not comfortable doing that character.”

Anupama revealed that the experience affected her confidence. She explained, “It wasn’t a smooth experience. I used to feel bad, disappointed, and not confident. That’s not who I am, and I wasn’t able to be that person.” She also shared how long it took her to decide to take the role. The character of Lily was different from her usual image. She admitted, “I took a long time to say yes to the film. I was in two minds because the role was so different from who I am.”

Anupama also discussed her concerns about her appearance and styling for the character. She said, “I don’t usually spend a lot of time thinking about how I look or styling my hair. I’d rather not worry about outfits.” Despite these challenges, she is proud of the way her performance was received by the audience. “When people appreciated me, I felt proud of myself,” she said.

Though she faced online criticism initially, the film’s success helped change the perception. Tillu Square became a box-office hit. Anupama played the role opposite Siddhu Jonnalagadda, who portrayed DJ Tillu. She faced both praise and criticism for her bold portrayal in the movie. But in the end, she felt satisfied that the audience was able to connect with her performance.
