Balakrishna pays THIS amount: The Hyderabad Regional Transport Authority (RTA) conducted a top-brass auction of luxury car registration numbers, realising Rs 37.15 lakh as revenue. Among the bidders present, Tollywood hero and MLA of TDP Nandamuri Balakrishna paid the most to obtain the much-sought-after ‘0001’ number for Rs 7.75 lakh. Balakrishna’s fondness for fancy registration numbers is no secret, and his new offer vindicated his penchant for exclusiveness of car registration.

Fancy Numbers Get Heavy Bids

Apart from ‘0001’, some other fancy numbers were sold, and corporate houses and private companies made bids on them heavily. Some of the popular registration numbers were:

‘0009’, purchased by a Hyderabad-based software company

‘0099’, for Rs 4.75 lakh

‘9999’, purchased for Rs 99,999

‘0019’, the smallest of the premium numbers, was auctioned for Rs 60,000

RTA officials highlighted that most of these numbers were purchased by business houses. Registering the premium numbers in corporate names rather than individual names.
