Bhairavam Movie Review: Was Remake Justified or Not?

Bhairavam: Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas’s Telugu film Bhairavam is back after a gap. Since heroes like Manchu Manoj and Nara Rohit also act in this film, it has a multi-starrer appeal. Due to this, a section of the audience has shown interest in this film. And does this film live up to their expectations or not?

Plotline:
This film starts in the village called Devipuram. The temple of Goddess Varahi is very sacred and powerful. Nagaratnamma (Jayasudha) is the head of it and takes care of all the affairs and the temple’s needs. She has two grandsons, one of her grandsons, Gajapathi (Manchu Manoj), Varada (Nara Rohit), and Srinu (Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas). Nagaratnamma also raises them equally. After she dies, Nagaraju (Ajay) sets his sights on the temple. However, the three friends confront him. Unable to do anything about them, Nagaraju keeps waiting for the right time. Meanwhile, the friends started having some clashes, and these clashes ended with Gajapathi killing Varada, and Gajapathi had to kill Srinu.. What are the real clashes between them? Why did Nagaraju want to acquire the temple? The rest of the film, Bhairavam, is the answer to questions like these.

Review:
Bhairavam is a remake of the Tamil super hit Garudan. It is a film with a good storyline and engaging characters. That is why Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas’ father, Bellamkonda Suresh, showed interest in remaking it in Telugu. Harish Shankar’s disciple, Vijay Kanakamedala, who gained a good name with films like Naandhi and Ugram, was chosen as the director. Vijay proved himself to be a talented director with Naandhi. And his mentor, Harish Shankar, is an expert in making remake films. So everyone thought that Bhairavam was a safe movie for Vijay. And did Vijay make Bhairava in a way that the Telugu audience would appreciate, as per their expectations?

Compared to the original, he made a lot of changes in this film. But these changes affected the film’s original soul. Here, the main changes in the roles played by Nara Rohit and Manoj are reversed in the original. The first half is simple. But when it came to the second half, the director tried to manage it with some twists. Sri Charan Pakala worked on a mass film for the first time. He gave his best up to that point. The cinematography was okay. The production values were good.

When it comes to actors, Manchu Manoj’s character is appreciated so much by the public. His image will change after this film. There is a huge possibility that he will get more such roles. Nara Rohit is also a hero, but he feels like he has done as a supporting actor. Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas’s character was played by Suri in the original. Since he has a comedian image, it felt convincing even if he acted innocently. But here, Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas has an action image. So, it feels a little awkward to see him as innocent. Heroine Aditi Shankar got a good role. Anandi and Divya Pillai also did well. Jayasudha and Ajay’s characters have good importance. But it feels like they have less screen space.

Plus Points:
Good twists
Good Story
Perfect Casting
On point Background Score
