Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara: Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ambitious fantasy drama Vishwambhara has been in production for over a year. Initially planned for a Sankranthi 2025 release, the film was postponed due to extensive post-production work, allowing Ram Charan’s Game Changer to take its spot instead.
Teasers out months prior had provoked negative reactions, much of which was against its visual effects. Chiranjeevi was embarrassed with the backlash and supervised a whole remake of the VFX, thus leading to a major setback in releasing the film.
Latest news confirms that reshot VFX work is going on near completion, albeit at an enormous cost of Rs 75 crore. The additional amount can cover two medium-budget films featuring top stars and signify the scale of the expenditure incurred in visually enhancing Vishwambhara.
With the delays, Chiranjeevi demanded shooting with a new VFX team so that the fantasy film is of the highest quality before announcing a release date for the film.
As the production expenses have gone sky-high, the filmmakers have asked for a massive amount of money for the OTT rights of their film, hoping to gain a considerable percentage of their investment back. This has put off streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon, which had initially shown interest in purchasing the digital rights, from coming forward, making the situation even more perilous.
Accordingly, Vishwambhara enthusiasts waiting for news have been left guessing, with no official release date declared yet. Chiranjeevi and his team remain keen on seeing to it that the VFX, however, before a launch announcement.
Other than Chiranjeevi, Trisha Krishnan plays the heroine, reprising her pairing with him after their successful on-screen combination in Stalin. Vassishta, who had directed the blockbuster film Bimbisara earlier, directs the film. The movie is going to be a visual treat even though it was produced late.
