Complaint Filed Against Vijay Devarakonda: Telugu cinema actor Vijay Devarakonda is in the midst of a row following his remarks on the latest Pahalgam terrorist attack. His remarks, likening the attack to tribal warfare during ancient times, have drawn fire from the tribal community and Hyderabad legal notices.
At a pre-release event of a Tamil movie starring Suriya Sivakumar, Devarakonda had evidently drawn parallels between the Pahalgam incident and traditional tribal violence. His statement did not sit well with some communities, who believed that his statement demeaned tribal people.
Hyderabad lawyer Lal Chauhan lodged a complaint against Devarakonda at the SR Nagar police station for making allegedly defamatory comments about tribal communities. The police indicated they would act suitably after seeking legal opinion on the matter.
Some of the tribal communities have blamed Devarakonda for his statement, asking him to apologize immediately. They say his analogy was insensitive and untrue to the tribal aggressions of history. The criticism has been gathering momentum, with social media platforms picking up the cause.
