Is Tollywood normalizing cuss words?

Using cuss words in Telugu movies has become normal these days. Especially after the arrival of OTT platforms, the usage has become too mainstream or an extra attraction in Tollywood. Whether there’s a need or not, the makers intentionally use them to attract a section of the audience with these dialogues. Has this trend started currently? No. Was it too normal? Not.

The recently released teaser of Nani’s “The Paradise” is viral on the internet. While the teaser looks unique and interesting, what caught everybody’s attention was the use of a cuss word; a popular one indeed. No, I’m not going to tell you what it is. Watch for yourself.

Was that word used before? Yes. Let’s look at the films which used vulgar words.

Nani’s upcoming film ‘The Paradise’ teaser was released on 3rd March and received much appreciation from the audience for its look and execution. Nani, often appreciated for his choice of films, tried a different look and approach in this film. From his first movie, he has gained appreciation from family audiences for his light-hearted and feel-good films. However, the recent glimpse of the teaser has a cuss word, surprisingly, inked on his arm. Have you ever wondered why the censor board accepts these dialogues?

Films that used Cuss Words:
The Paradise
Surprisingly, even films made in the 90s also had cuss words. The word used in The Paradise Glimpse video is used in many mainstream movies in the Tollywood, in a different context though. It looks like in Nani’s upcoming film The Paradise, this word is used in a very different context.

Tenali Ramakrishna
NTR and Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s comedy film directed by B.S. Ranga was released in 1996 and was a commercially hit film. Check out “Kunjara Yudhambu Doma Kuthuka Jochen,” and you’ll find a cuss word. Yes, exactly this.

Chantabbai
Chantabbai is a favorite for many. The popular dialogue, Pond, James Pond, is etched in our memory. Megastar Chiranjeevi and Suhasini’s comedy-drama film directed by Jandhyala is a blockbuster hit in the Telugu film industry. Although Chiranjeevi uses this word, it has a different context, an emotional one. It was a shocker for many to see Chiranjeevi using a cuss word.

OTT series like Rana Naidu, Mirzapur, Paava Kadhaigal, and many other shows have used cuss words in tollywood.
Do you think people are attracted to vulgar content easily than good content? Maybe?
