Kannappa: Manchu Vishnu’s self-produced film ‘Kannappa’ is set to release on the 27th of this month. This huge mythological film, made with a budget of over Rs. 100 crore, has been in the news recently. A controversy has recently erupted around this movie. Brahmin groups have expressed their anger over a character in the film ‘Kannappa’ that is derogatory to them. In this context, Brahmin Chaitanya Vedhika President Sridhar announced that they will block the pre-release event to be held in Guntur on Saturday.
The unit, which introduced the main characters of ‘Kannappa’ one by one, revealed the first look of the comic character Pilaka Gilaka in September last year. It features Brahmanandam and Saptagiri. The poster also revealed the dialogue ‘The teachers who taught the fish to swim, the tiger to hunt, the cuckoo to sing, now come to the forest to teach lessons’. Brahmin groups, who had not spoken out at that time, focused on the movie ‘Kannappa’ as the release was approaching. Sridhar was furious that Mohan Babu’s family had a habit of insulting Brahmins. The family has insulted their community in the past as well. He said that if clarity is not given on the characters of Pilaka Gilaka at least at the pre-release event, he will approach the court. He warned that they should stop making films that insult Brahmins.
In this film, Manchu Vishnu is playing the role of Kannappa, while Prabhas is playing a guest role in a powerful character called “Rudra”. The unit says that this character will be on screen for half an hour. In addition, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is playing the role of Shiva in this film. This is his first Telugu film. On the other hand, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be seen in the role of “Kiratha”, while Mohan Babu is playing the lead role as “Mahadeva Shastri”. Kannappa is paired with Preethi Mukundan. Kajal Aggarwal will be seen in the role of Parvati Devi in this film.
Meanwhile, other important roles are played by Sarath Kumar , Brahmanandam, Madhubala , Mukesh Rishi , Brahmaji , Saptagiri , Raghu Babu , Arpit Ranka , Aishwarya Bhaskar and others. Now, it is said that Manchu Vishnu and Mohan Babu have expressed satisfaction over the final copy of Kannappa. ‘Kannappa’, which is ready for release after overcoming many hurdles, has a new headache in the form of Brahmin communities. It remains to be seen how the Manchu family will resolve these problems.
