Khaleja Becomes Telugu Cinema’s Biggest Re-Release

Khaleja Re-Release: Mahesh Babu’s cult favorite Khaleja still has a devoted following after 14 years. The 2010 fantasy-action-comedy, which was directed by Trivikram Srinivas and starred Anushka Shetty, is returning to theaters in a gorgeous 4K restoration. Fans of Mahesh Babu are rejoicing over his past work as he prepares for his eagerly anticipated movie with SS Rajamouli, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Khaleja’s re-release will formally open in theaters on May 30, with special night performances planned for May 29. As of early evening on May 29, the movie had already made an astounding US$ $51,058 (Rs 43 lakh) from 96 locations and had debuted to crowded houses across North America, reaffirming Mahesh Babu’s devoted fan base among the Telugu diaspora.

The reception has been similarly amazing back home in India. Domestically, the film’s advance sales, which include tickets for the special night showing, have surpassed Rs 3.50 crore. This is the largest pre-sales for a re-release film in Telugu cinema history, setting a new record. As of right now, Prabhas’s Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire recorded the highest re-release day 1 figure of Rs 3 crore.

Khaleja Re-Release Goes Crazy:

There is more to the enthusiasm around Khaleja’s re-release than nostalgia. Despite having a mediocre box office performance when it was first released, the movie has become a cult favorite over the years thanks to its oddball humor, memorable dialogue, and Mahesh Babu’s natural charisma. The recently remastered 4K and Dolby Atmos sound format of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas’s collaboration has fans excited to revisit its beauty on the big screen.

With this resounding response, Khaleja has proven that vintage films can still attract large audiences and break records when filmmakers re-release them with proper promotion and presentation. The timing also works perfectly, as Mahesh Babu gears up for his highly anticipated project with SS Rajamouli. With the weekend approaching, most experts predict that Khaleja will continue to perform strongly both in India and overseas.
