Kingdom OTT:
Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, Kingdom is a Telugu spy action thriller starring Vijay Deverakonda, Satyadev, Bhagyashri Borse, and Venkitesh. The movie hit theatres on 31 July, receiving mixed reviews from audiences. However, it is now set for its OTT release, less than a month after its theatrical run. If you missed it in cinemas, here’s when and where you can watch it.
Kingdom will be available for streaming on Netflix starting from 27 August, coinciding with Ganesh Chaturthi. The film will be available in multiple languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. Netflix India made the announcement on social media, promising a thrilling journey set in a kingdom filled with gold, blood, and fire.
The story of Kingdom follows a constable-turned-spy, Suri (Vijay Deverakonda), who embarks on a dangerous mission to Sri Lanka to find his long-lost brother, Siva (Satyadev). In Sri Lanka, Suri becomes entangled in a battle with the son of a powerful cartel king, Murugan (Venkitesh), which complicates the mission. Along the way, Dr. Madhu (Bhagyashri Borse) joins Suri and soon falls for him.
Despite high expectations before its release, the film performed moderately at the box office, grossing ₹82.02 crore worldwide. The film ends with a setup for a sequel, leaving audiences eager for what’s next. However, Kingdom did face controversy for its portrayal of Sri Lankan Tamils, leading to protests in some areas and calls for a ban. The Madras High Court intervened, ensuring protection for the theatres screening the film.
For those interested in action-packed thrillers with strong characters, Kingdom is a must-watch. Catch it soon on Netflix!
