The graphic content of violence in Unni Mukundan’s most recent film, Marco, attracted a lot of attention. Though it introduced something new to Malayalam cinema, the film, which was hailed as the most violent, also received a lot of criticism for its incredibly graphic and brutal sequences.
In a recent interview, Actor Kiran Abbavaram has recently shared his experience watching Marco. He said that he felt very uncomfortable while watching the movie during the screening. Dilruba star revealed that he and his wife, who is pregnant, was supposed to leave the theatres in the middle of the screening. He also said that they felt very uncomfortable in their stomach that they couldn’t digest extremities on the screen.

In the interview, Kiran said, “I went to Marco with my wife. We walked out during the second half as we could not tolerate the gruesome violence. She was carrying. We couldn’t digest the bloodshed. She felt very uncomfortable. Much before pre-climax, we left the theater.”
Despite having strong criticism of this film, director Haneef Adeni’s film Marco has got good collections in the box office. Presently, this film is streaming on the OTT platform on Sonyliv. Even in OTT, this film got huge appreciation from the audience, and also, people criticized the violence shown on screen.
According to sources, it is said that this film is going to get banned from OTT platforms, citing it as extremely violent content that might harm children’s minds and families. Also, the film got rejected for satellite streaming rights.
