No Movie Tickets Hike in Telangana: After the news broke that price hikes were about to be announced for Pawan Kalyan’s widely awaited film OG, ticket price in Telangana has become a very hot topic again. Such an order, however, created an uproar and found open disapproval from the Minister for Cinematography, Komati Reddy Venkata Reddy, with the remark that such an order had been issued behind his back by the Special Chief Secretary of the Home Department.
Komati Reddy never held back and scrutinized the very fundamentals of this Government Order. He commented that perhaps the hike was the result of some influence exerted by decisions taken in neighboring states wherein OG was specially permitted to screen. “Why was this GO passed without my knowledge? I strongly oppose such arbitrary decisions,” he exclaimed.
Seemingly, the Telangana High Court’s single bench intervened and placed a stay on the ticket prices for OG. The Minister applauded the court’s proceedings, saying such intervention was in the interest of the common man, who should not bear the burden of heavy ticket charges.
Advancing with his position, Komati Reddy announced that in the future, Telangana will have a uniform ticket pricing policy. “From now on, whether small film or big-budget movie, there will be only one ticket rate,” he declared. According to him, this will foster fairness in the film industry and prevent audience exploitation during the major releases.

By eliminating any further ticket hikes, Minister Komati Reddy now firmly stands with the audience. The producers may argue for a free hand in ticket pricing for big films. But the state view will be on the side of affordability and equal respect for all films. Movie lovers in Telangana can be assured of a fair system, wherein entertainment is not taxed heavily.
