Speaking to the crowd, Pawan said that supply and demand decide movie ticket prices, and that higher ticket prices help the government raise money through the GST. He emphasized the necessity to keep politics and the film business apart and explained that politics shouldn’t become involved with the former.
He recalled his family’s history in the movie business and pointed out how intimately Megastar Chiranjeevi is linked to their legacy. He had warm memories of the great actors, producers, and directors who helped the business flourish. Pawan complimented Ram Charan’s performance in Rangasthalam and said he hoped the actor will take home the “Best Actor” prize. He also emphasized how movie expenditures are rising and how important advertising events like these are to getting in front of viewers. Reminiscent of his early days as a moviegoer, the Deputy CM recalled taking his grandmother to see Premikudu and watching Shankar’s Gentleman in Chennai. He gave director Shankar credit for bringing socially conscious films to the South Indian cinema industry.
