Samantha Ruth Prabhu, South India’s best-known actress, spoke recently about her initial days of acting in films during promotional events for her first production venture Shubham. The Telugu horror-comedy under her production house Tralala Moving Pictures marks a new page in her illustrious film career. In a talk to students at SV Group of Institutions in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, Samantha shared how she felt “embarrassed” watching her acting performance in her first two films.
“If I go back and view my first two movies now, I feel silly and ask myself why I performed so badly,” revealed Samantha. Her genuine self-examination struck fans as they appreciated her humility and openness in accepting that she had improved as an artiste. She juxtaposed her earlier difficulties with the bright performances by the new crop of actors in Shubham and beamed with pride for them.
Samantha, who has been acting for 14-15 years, has forayed into production and has taken it as a new challenge. Speaking about the changeover, she stated, “It is a step forward. Production is a new challenge and I like taking challenges.” Her maiden production, Shubham, which is directed by Praveen Kandregula of Cinemabandi fame, features newcomers such as Harshith Reddy, Gavireddy Srinivas, Charan Peri, Shriya Kontham, Shravani Lakshmi, Shalini Kondepudi and Vamshidhar Goud.

The teaser of Shubham posted by Samantha on social media provides a preview of its creative story. The movie is about a newlywed couple in which the soft-spoken groom is stunned by the bride’s bizarre fascination with a television show on their wedding night that takes a horror-comedy turn. The movie will release on May 9 and Samantha’s fans are waiting eagerly for it.
Spiritual and professional pursuits
Before the release of Shubham, Samantha had gone to the Tirupati Balaji temple to take blessings along with director Raj Nidimoru. On the acting side, she has joined hands with Raj and DK again for Rakht Universe, a fantasy drama directed by Tumbbad fame Rahi Anil Barve.
Samantha’s clear vision and her bold step into production evidence her growth as an artist, inspiring fans and peers around the world. Her path is a shining example of resilience, change and the courage to embrace new challenges.
