Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Kuberaa’ Gets UA Certificate, Set for June 20 Release

Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera release tomorrow

Sekhar Kammula’s much-awaited film ‘Kuberaa’ is ready for a grand release on June 20, 2025. The film features a stellar cast including Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh. Touted as a political drama with commercial appeal, Kuberaa will release in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi simultaneously.

CBFC Clears Film With 19 cuts

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared Kuberaa with a UA certificate. The Telugu version has a runtime of 181 minutes, while the Tamil version clocks in at 182 minutes.

However, the CBFC trimmed 19 scenes, removing nearly 14 minutes of footage. These cuts reportedly include scenes involving all the lead actors. A cab sequence featuring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika was among the visuals cut for pacing and clarity.

Star Power and Strong Performances

In Kuberaa, Dhanush plays Deva, a beggar with ambitions for massive wealth. Nagarjuna plays Deepak, a mysterious figure who believes that only money and power matter in society. Rashmika Mandanna plays Sameera, a character that supports and challenges Deva’s beliefs. Jim Sarbh appears as a sharp and unpredictable antagonist.

The supporting cast includes Dalip Tahil, Sayaji Shinde, and Hareesh Peradi. Music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, promising an energetic and emotional soundtrack.

High Expectations and Pan-India Appeal

Directed by National Award-winner Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa has been shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil. It’s produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, and presented by Sonali Narang under the Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP banner.

Producer Slams OTT Pressure

Ahead of the release, co-producer Suniel Narang made headlines by accusing an OTT platform of pressuring the team. He claimed the streamer threatened to cut their deal by ₹10 crore if the film missed its June 20 deadline. Narang defended the decision to stick to the release date, adding that “stars are not the problem, the system is.”
