Movies Rejected by Samantha: Tollywood star Samantha Ruth Prabhu is known for her beauty and acting skills. She made a stunning debut with the movie Ye Maaya Chesave which turned out to be a blockbuster. Since then she earned opportunities to act with top heroes and soon became one of the leading actresses in the South film industry. However, not many know that she missed out on acting in several hit movies. Let’s look at some of the big films Samantha rejected and the reasons behind it.
Ninnu Kori
Samantha and Nani had earlier worked together in a couple of hit movies. When director Shiva Nirvana planned Ninnu Kori, he initially approached Samantha for the lead role. But due to her packed schedule and lack of available dates, she had to turn down the offer. The film eventually starred Nivetha Thomas and became a major success.
Pushpa
Pushpa: The Rise starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna was a pan-India blockbuster. Initially director Sukumar had thought of casting Samantha as the female lead. But around that time Samantha was going through a tough personal phase due to her divorce. She declined the role, and the opportunity went to Rashmika who received widespread appreciation.
Shankar’s I
Shankar’s ambitious project I featuring Vikram in a unique role had Amy Jackson as the heroine. Interestingly Samantha was the first choice for this role. She was even announced as the female lead. But for unknown reasons, she opted out of the film later. Amy was then cast in her place, and the movie went on to become a box office hit.
Yevadu
In the movie Yevadu, starring Ram Charan and Allu Arjun, Samantha was initially considered for the lead actress role. However, due to health issues, she couldn’t take up the project. As a result, the team had to look for another actress and the film proceeded without her.
Student of the Year
Not just in Tollywood, Samantha was also approached for a Bollywood project. Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, which launched Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra was initially offered to Samantha. But she reportedly showed no interest in the project and chose to stay focused on South Indian cinema at that time.
