8 Trekking Tips for Beginners: The Complete Guide

Trekking is an exhilarating way of experiencing nature, challenging your boundaries, and seeing breathtaking vistas. As a beginner though, it is wise that you are well-equipped to take pleasure in and enjoy a safe journey. Listed below are 8 Trekking Tips for Beginners that will get you going at the beginning.

8 Trekking Tips for Beginners:

1. Undergo a Medical Check-Up Before Trekking
Get a check-up with a doctor before you leave to ensure that you are fit enough for trekking. The remote or high-altitude regions are unsafe for health, and a basic check-up prevents grave issues.

2. Be Familiar with Your Trekking Route
Get knowledge about your trekking route, including terrain, climate, local culture, emergency phone numbers, and facilities available. This keeps you ready for any untoward incident.

3. Select the Correct Backpack
Invest in a water-proof bag where you can store your essentials rain-free or water splash-free. Or, if your bag is not waterproof, carry plastic wraps to seal your belongings from water and rain.

4. Pack Light and Smart
Overloading will weary and tire you in no time. Carry only essentials, i.e., first-aid kit, spare clothes, and navigation tools, to comfort and ease your travel.

5. Stay Hydrated and Carry Snacks
Tiredness and dehydration are inevitable on long treks. Carry water, energy bars, dry fruits, or electrolyte sachets to stay charged on your trek.

6. Never Trek Alone
If it is your first trek, never trek alone. Trek always in a group or with seasoned trekkers for safety, shared resources, and shared decision-making in bad weather.

7. Wear Comfortable Trekking Shoes
Footwear matters. Use grippy, comfortable trekking shoes so that walking on ice or rock will not be an issue. Water shoes are a bonus in case of rain or slippery slopes.

8. Regular Breaks
Do not walk continuously. Take regular 10-12 minute breaks every hour to relax the muscles and acclimatize for the next section of the journey
