Affordable Electric Scooters: Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup Ather Energy will hold its annual community event, ‘Ather Community Day, in August this year. Ather Community Day is an event organized by the company for the customers and fans of the electric two-wheeler brand. The company uses the one-day event to interact with customers, showcase new technologies and reveal upcoming models.
The company will also unveil its new EL scooter platform along with new concept vehicles at this year’s Ather Community Day. ompany revealed that the upcoming EL platform will be designed to be “versatile and cost-effective” and will help electric two-wheeler manufacturers expand their product line to satisfy a wider range of customers.
Ather had confirmed in April that it was working on a new low-cost EL platform. The company also showcased the Zenith platform, which will be the basis for electric motorcycles between 125 and 300 cc. More details about the Zenith platform will be revealed at the upcoming event.
Recently, Ather Energy filed a patent for the design of its new electric scooter. This new affordable electric scooter will be built on the company’s new EL platform. The company has already confirmed that this scooter will be positioned in the segment below the existing Ather Rista. That means its price and features will be slightly lower.
Currently, the most affordable electric scooter from Ather is the Rista. It is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh and the ex-showroom price is up to Rs 1.49 lakh. It comes in two battery options. Customers can buy the scooter with 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh battery options. With the smaller battery pack, it can travel 123 km on a single charge, and with the larger battery pack, it can travel 159 km. The Rista also has the same PMS motor found in the Ather 450S. The scooter can accelerate from zero to 40 km in just 3.7 seconds, and can reach a top speed of 80 km/h.
In addition to the new electric two-wheeler platform, Ather confirmed at this year’s Community Day that it will be releasing an updated version of its vehicle software, Ather Stack 7.0, and next-generation fast chargers. The new fast charging solution aims to make charging faster and more convenient.
