Window Closure Rule: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has recently issued key instructions to commercial aircraft. The Ministry of Defense has issued instructions to keep window shades closed during take-off and landing at air bases. It has been stated that this instruction must be followed especially at western Indian bases bordering Pakistan and that cloth or material must be kept to cover the windows. It has been stated that window shades should be kept closed until the aircraft reaches a height of 10,000 feet after take-off, and should be closed when the aircraft descends below 10,000 feet during landing. The DGCA said that there will be an exception to this rule near emergency windows.
It is known that clashes with Pakistan have recently reached a serious level. In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, India has razed terror camps under the name of Operation Sindoor. More than 100 terrorists lost their lives in these attacks. Key terrorist camps have been destroyed. In return, Pakistan opened fire. India effectively repelled all attempts to attack with drones, missiles, and fighter jets. It also crippled Pakistan’s air defense system.
In this war, India attacked and destroyed air bases in Pakistan . India gained the upper hand in this war. With this, Pakistan came to a compromise. It proposed a ceasefire. Thus, the firing between the two countries stopped. But the tensions between the two countries remain the same. Diplomatic clashes continue. Both countries have banned their airspace to the other country. It is in this context that the DGCA’s issuance of fresh orders has gained significance.
It has been advised to inform passengers about the rule not to take photos and videos at air bases. The DGCA has made it clear to airlines that they should disclose the action to be taken in case of violation. In addition to operational safety, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said in its statement that these steps are being taken to prevent passengers from sharing security information without their knowledge. Airports in Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Adampur, Chandigarh, Bathinda, Jaisalmer, Nal, Jodhpur, Hindon, Agra, Kanpur, Bareilly, Maharajpur, Gorakhpur, Bhuj, Lohegaon, Dabolim, and Vizag will have to comply with these orders.
