India’s First Bullet Train Project Gets ₹4,100 Crore Boost for Advanced Signaling System

India’s First Bullet Train: The entire country is waiting to see when the first bullet train will start running. A key update has come in the construction of the high-speed rail corridor being built between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, the bullet train project. The National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited has awarded the contract for the state-of-the-art signaling and telecommunication systems required for this bullet train project to the Siemens consortium.


This consortium, comprising Dinesh Chandra R Agarwal Infracon Private Limited, Siemens Limited, and Siemens Mobility GmbH, has won the contract to implement advanced signaling and telecommunication systems for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.

India’s First Bullet Train Project Gets ₹4,100 Crore Boost

The value of this contract is approximately Rs 4,100 crore, according to an official statement released by Siemens Limited. In this, Siemens Limited’s share is Rs 1,230 crore. This amount includes the design and installation of advanced signaling and telecommunication technologies, as well as long-term maintenance for 15 years. Siemens will implement European Train Control System Level 2 (ETCS)-based signaling and train control systems in this project.


 

This system will help trains travel at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour and also provide real-time monitoring. It will provide non-stop wireless connectivity. It will have centralized traffic control capacity. The ETCS Level 2 signaling standard is being successfully implemented in more than 50 countries around the world.

 

The project will be implemented in 54 months and Siemens will provide 15 years of maintenance services, ensuring long-term reliability of the system, the company said in a statement. Siemens said it is proud to be a consortium partner with the National High Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited on this ambitious bullet train project. Siemens Limited Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Sunil Mathur said that this project demonstrates our commitment to Make in India. He said that this project will be a key step in the expansion of the high-speed railway network in the country.
