Secunderabad Railway Station Upgrade: Secunderabad Railway Station, one of the busiest transit hubs in South India, is undergoing a massive transformation aimed at easing passenger congestion and enhancing commuter convenience. The ongoing infrastructure upgrade, led by the Railway Department, is set to give the station a modern facelift and address several long-standing issues.

Permanent Fix to an Ongoing Passenger Problem:

In what appears to be a lasting solution to crowd control and infrastructural challenges, officials have fast-tracked several high-impact projects. From new connectivity features to better traffic management systems, the station’s upcoming facilities are designed to meet the growing demand and provide a seamless experience for travelers.

Modern Foot Over Bridge:

The Railways is nearing completion of a new state-of-the-art foot over bridge (FOB), which will significantly reduce crowding during peak hours. Unlike the existing two or three bridges, the new FOB will connect all platforms and include escalators, lifts, and ramps. These features will make it easier for the elderly, differently-abled, and passengers with children to access platforms.

Multi-Level Parking with Entry and Exit Points:

The Railways have tackled the chronic parking crunch by constructing a multi-level parking facility with four to five floors. The new structure enables passengers to park their vehicles safely and efficiently, significantly reducing roadside congestion. Officials also plan to introduce a mobile app-based parking reservation system to let users book slots in advance.

Revamp of Circulating Area for Smoother Flow:

The Railways is overhauling one of the most chaotic zones, the circulating area. The redesign includes designated pick-up and drop-off zones, dedicated lanes for buses and autos, public restrooms, seating areas, cement roads, and landscaped spaces. Officials are also adding special amenities for women, such as exclusive rest areas and upgraded sanitation facilities.

Secunderabad Railway Station Upgrade towards Sustainable Vision:
Beyond convenience, the station aims to embrace sustainability. The South Central Railway plans to transform Secunderabad into a net-zero energy station in the future. Features like smart ticket counters, digital display boards, mobile charging points, and EV charging stations are part of this green vision.

South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava recently visited Secunderabad Railway Station to inspect the ongoing development works. He personally reviewed the construction progress of the foot over bridge, multi-level parking facility, and circulating area. He directed officials to speed up the work while ensuring top-quality standards. With large-scale upgrades progressing rapidly, the Railways is positioning Secunderabad Station to become one of the most advanced and commuter-friendly stations in the country.
