Top 5 Heritage Restaurants in Hyderabad Older Than 50 Years

Heritage Restaurants in Hyderabad: Hyderabad is a city that glimmers with a rich heritage that shone brightly in the Mughal, Nizam, and South Indian cultures. This is a city alive with heritage; monuments like the Charminar and Golconda Fort bring it all home. Among them are some heritage restaurants, grand buildings testifying to a time gone by and perhaps making them some of the most iconic features of the city. These have lasted for over fifty years and today serve the same flavors that generations of food lovers have cherished.

1. Paradise (Established 1953)

Complete with Paradise, synonymous with Hyderabadi Biryani. It started out as a little café just outside of Secunderabad and turned into an international brand. Despite modern expansion, what is special about this Secunderabad outlet is that it has retained the charm of the old Hyderabad in which the legendary biryani first won hearts.

2. Shadab (Established 1950s)

This hotel, near Charminar, is a jewel from the heritage view. Famous for the thick spices-laden biryani and authentic Irani chai, this restaurant has a feeling of the Old City of Hyderabad. It has wooden interiors and a truly stormy atmosphere, feeling like a direct movement in time.

3. Alpha Hotel (Established 1960s)

A traveler for the ages, right opposite Secunderabad Railway Station, this has been the delight of travelers. Smartly priced yet delicious, the place is best known for its biryani, kheema roti, and late-night service-a must stop in terms of heritage for food lovers.

4. Garden Restaurant (Established 1950s)

Seated in Abids, one of the well-established oldest Irani cafes across the city is Garden Restaurant. His crispy, crunchy Osmania biscuit washed down with that hot Irani chai is unmatched. It has, over the years, become an intersection of many-writers, students, and professionals alike.

5. Café Niloufer (Established 1976)

It may be slightly less aged than the others, but it has been dispensing some heavenly chai and baked delights for close to 50 years. Bali maska and Osmania biscuits are legends in the city, thus marking it an unmissable stop on Hyderabad’s heritage food map.
