Vijayawada Rail Update: 50 Trains Diverted, Several Canceled

Vijayawada Rail Update: 50 Trains Diverted, Several Canceled

Vijayawada Rail Update: Ongoing non-interlocking works in the Vijayawada Railway Division have significantly disrupted rail services, causing considerable inconvenience to passengers. While technically these changes are part of a standard operational procedure, the impact on passenger travel has been substantial. The situation is particularly challenging during the monsoon season, which is already prone to delays. As a result, over a hundred trains have been either canceled, diverted, or rescheduled. Passengers traveling through the Vijayawada route are advised to stay vigilant.

Cancellations: Major Disruption for Passengers

The South Central Railway canceled several trains fully or partially between July 23 and 29, and again from August 6 to 24. The zone confirmed that it affected a total of 53 trains. These include services on key routes such as Vijayawada–Ongole, Bitragunta–Vijayawada, Guntur–Repalle, Repalle–Tenali, Tenali–Guntur, Tirupati–Lingampalli, Lingampalli–Tirupati, Narasapuram–Dharmavaram, Visakhapatnam–Tirupati, Tirupati–Adilabad, Yesvantpur–Tughlakabad, Cherlapalli–Tirupati, Jalna–Tirupati, and Tirupati–Narasapuram. In some cases, the railways partially canceled services and temporarily withdrew certain stops. Passengers with existing bookings must check the updated train status in advance.

Diversions: Pay Attention to Altered Routes
A total of 50 trains have been diverted to alternate routes between July 22 and 29. Interstate travelers must take note, especially those booked on long-distance trains such as Shalimar–Chennai, Howrah–Bengaluru, Nizamuddin–Ernakulam, Jodhpur–Chennai, Kharagpur–Villupuram, Ayodhya–Rameswaram, Gaya–Chennai, Agartala–Bengaluru, Madurai–Chandigarh, Tirupati–Bhubaneswar, and Dhanbad–Alappuzha. These route changes may lead to delays, and passengers should be aware of potential changes to station stops and arrival times.

Rescheduling and Timing Adjustments

Apart from cancellations and diversions, the railways rescheduled several trains and altered their timings. They adjusted the timings of 15 trains. They also completely rescheduled 4 trains, which now run at different times than originally planned. This change creates problems, especially for daily commuters. Affected services include Chennai–Vijayawada, Chennai–Charlapalli, Hyderabad–Kollam, Trivandrum–Secunderabad, and Chengalpattu–Kakinada.

Routes Severely Impacted

Passengers traveling to and from Tirupati, Secunderabad, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Howrah, Rameswaram, Madurai, and Bangalore via Vijayawada must note that many connecting trains face disruptions. Travelers on routes like Tirupati–Secunderabad, Visakhapatnam–Lingampalli, SVD Katra–Chennai, Kanyakumari–Dibrugarh, Ernakulam–Howrah, Bangalore–New Tinsukia, Puducherry–Kakinada, and Indore–Kochuveli must check their journey status in advance.

Plan Before You Travel

Given these changes, verify your train schedule through the IRCTC website, the NTES mobile app, or official railway information portals. Check whether the railways have canceled, rescheduled, or rerouted your train before boarding. Stay updated on the current status and route to ensure a smooth journey.

Although the railways offer a refund for canceled trains, you cannot recover lost time. Delays can disrupt vacations, family gatherings, and important appointments. In today’s age of instant bookings, a quick schedule check before traveling can help you avoid major inconveniences. As the Vijayawada Railway Division carries out temporary works to improve long-term services, you must stay informed, adapt to the situation, and plan accordingly. Taking proactive steps and monitoring updates can greatly reduce travel stress and inconvenience.
