Bigg Boss Kannada: The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has issued a notice to close the venue where Big Boss Kannada is being filmed for breaking environmental regulations, which is a significant blow for the well-liked reality show.
The Bigg Boss set at Jolly Wood Studios & Adventures in Bidadi Hobli, Bengaluru’s outskirts, is the subject of the notice. According to KSPCB Chairam PM Narendra Swamy, untreated effluent from the building was being released outside the site, contaminating the environment. Inspectors discovered that the facility lacked adequate internal drainage connections and that the 250 KLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) units were idle and uncommissioned, despite the production team’s claims to have constructed one. Officials pointed out that the wastewater was being released untreated and in the open, endangering the environment in the area.

Poor waste management techniques were also discovered during the examination. Paper plates, plastic cups, and other disposables were not systematically separated from other solid garbage. There was no flow chart or appropriate paperwork on the site that would have demonstrated the STP’s operation or wastewater management. Further environmental concerns were raised by the discovery of two diesel generator (DG) sets on the property, each with a capacity of 625 kVA and 500 kVA.
The Pollution Control Board has ordered an immediate halt to operations at the Bigg Boss Kannada site till the production team complies with environmental regulations, citing these several infractions. BESCOM has been directed to turn off the facility’s power supply as part of the enforcement action. Given that Bigg Boss Kannada, which is currently in its 12th season, is still one of the most viewed reality television programs in Karnataka, the decision has received a lot of attention.
