The stage is set for the grand premiere of Bigg Boss 19 on August 24, 2025. With a new digital-first strategy and a record-breaking five-month run, the show promises more drama than ever. But one detail that’s grabbed headlines is Salman Khan ’s surprisingly reduced fee this season.
According to reports, Salman is being paid between ₹120 to ₹150 crores for Bigg Boss 19. That breaks down to around ₹8 to ₹10 crores per weekend for the 15-week stint. While that’s still a staggering amount, it is a sharp drop from his earlier payouts he reportedly earned ₹250 crores for Bigg Boss 18 and ₹200 crores for Bigg Boss 17. For Bigg Boss OTT 2, he took home ₹96 crores.
The reason for the lowered compensation appears to be scheduling. Salman is expected to host the show for only the first three months. After that, guest hosts will reportedly take over for the remaining two months. Names like Farah Khan, Karan Johar, and Anil Kapoor are already being floated. The shift is reportedly due to Salman’s filming commitments for his upcoming war drama, Battle of Galwan.
In another major shift, Bigg Boss 19 will stream first on JioCinema, with a delayed airing on Colors TV later the same day. The format blurs the lines between TV and OTT, making this season a hybrid of sorts.

Salman began shooting for the show on August 22 in Mumbai. The first promo, filmed on July 21, hints at a political theme for the season. He was spotted in an all-black suit, with a sleek moustache and perfectly groomed hair setting the tone for what’s to come.
