KBC 17: Now trending episode which was released on October 9 featuring Ishit Bhatt, who hails from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, a young participant in the controversial game. As Amitabh Bachchan took the initiative of laying the groundwork for the games, Ishit interrupted him with confidence, “I already know the rules, you don’t need to explain them to me.” The moment was captured perfectly and spread like wildfire online at that time.
Many viewers could point at the boy’s tone, which sounded to most of the people as overconfidence. Then, during the game, Ishit jumped up and answered some questions usually before Amitabh Bachachan finished reading out the options.
After clearing four questions and winning 25,000 rupees, Ishit was asked the name of the first book (Kanda) in Valmiki’s Ramayana, and the options were:
A. Balakanda
B. Ayodhya Kanda
C. Kishkindha Kanda
D. Yuddha Kanda
Ishit confidently locked Ayodhya Kanda, even though Bachchan himself repeatedly asked if he was sure. Unfortunately, it was wrong; the right answer was indeed Balakanda. The young contestant now has lost winnings and is empty-handed.
The clip has already gone viral, with users commenting on the perils of too much confidence. Few criticized the not-so-sweet pitch used while addressing Amitabh Bachchan, while others defended him: he was basically refraining but trying to be playful. Overtone comments like, “Be smart, not over-smart,” and, “Confidence is good but arrogance isn’t” reflect pure feeling everyone has. These incidents once again raised debate of humility and respect even at times when one might be excited and famous.
