3 Indian Dishes Among the World’s 50 Best Breakfasts

3 Indian Dishes: India’s breakfast plate is a rich offering of textures, spices, and culture. Recently, India’s food pride was honored on the international stage, with three of India’s most iconic dishes listed in Taste Atlas’ World’s 50 Best Breakfasts as of June 2025. The selection, based on user reviews and food critic commentaries, honors the variety of morning meals around the world.


1. Misal Pav – Maharashtra’s Spicy Morning Delight (Rank 18)

Featured from Western India, Misal Pav is a spicy and zesty dish that is famous for its strong flavor and bright color. The dish is a spicy sprouted lentil curry (misal) topped with crispy farsan, chopped onions, and coriander, served with pav (bread rolls). Taste Atlas calls it “obligatory to be spicy” with a highly photogenic presentation, with shades of red, green, orange, and brown. Misal Pav is a popular Maharashtrian favourite and is just as warm as it is famous.

2. Paratha – The Multy-Purpose Breakfast Choice from North India (23rd Place)

Paratha, a flatbread that is either stuffed or layered, has just received 23rd place! People fill parathas with potatoes, paneer, or just simply serve with a dollop of butter and curd. There is a Pareatha for everyone, it is a typical North Indian dish. With their crunchy outside and soft, filling flavor, they are a filling, satisfying breakfast. Once a traditional North Indian food, parathas have become popular countrywide in infinite numbers of variations.


3. Chole Bhature – Delhi’s Bold Street Food Classic (Rank 32)

At rank 32, Chole Bhature offers a rich, indulgent breakfast option. Fluffy, deep-fried bhature paired with spicy chickpea curry (chole) have become synonymous with Delhi mornings and street food culture. Often served with tangy pickles and onions, this dish is a celebration of spice and satisfaction.
