Engineer Nune Sridhar: A villa, three separate buildings, 19 prime residential plots, at least four apartments, stakes in several hotels, and a destination wedding for his son in Thailand that reportedly cost crores of rupees, these possessions and lifestyle may appear to be those of a very wealthy businessman, but they are those of an executive engineer in Telangana’s irrigation department.
13 Sites Raided in Telangana:
During a raid on 13 addresses connected to Executive Engineer Nune Sridhar on Tuesday, the Anti-Corruption Bureau found assets that were out of proportion to his known revenue streams. In addition to at least three additional apartments in Karimnagar, the list featured a 4,500 square foot apartment in the upscale residential development Sky High in Hyderabad’s Shaikpet.
In addition to cash, jewelry, and bank deposits, officials said Mr. Sridhar owns a villa in Tellapur, which is close to Hyderabad; at least three separate buildings in Warangal, Karimanagar, and Hyderabad; 19 prime residential plots in the three cities; 16 acres of agricultural land; and stakes in several hotels in Karimnagar, totaling several crores. Additionally, Mr. Sridhar claimed to have spent crores on all the arrangements for his son’s destination wedding in Thailand.

Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project Links:
Insiders revealed that the executive engineer also played a role in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, the world’s largest multi-stage lift irrigation system, which faces serious corruption allegations. The PC Ghose Commission, currently investigating the alleged irregularities in the project, has summoned former Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K. Chandrashekar Rao. The BRS has rejected all accusations, stating that the project was planned and executed to benefit the people of Telangana. These corruption allegations became a major issue during the state’s 2023 Assembly elections.

Anti-Corruption Bureau officials stated that Mr. Sridhar is currently facing a disproportionate assets (DA) case. A government official added that they are examining financial documents, property papers, and transaction records to uncover possible benami holdings and corruption in irrigation contracts.
Another investigation has recommended criminal charges in the Medigadda Barrage case. In 2023, the barrage, a key part of the Kaleshwaram project, suffered damage when several piers collapsed. The Telangana Vigilance Commission has urged the Irrigation and Command Area Development (I&CAD) Department to file criminal charges against senior engineers and the construction company responsible for the damage.
