Adnan Sami Slams Grammys for Snubbing Zakir Hussain!

Zakir Hussain, regarded as, one of the greatest table players of all time has been again neglected by the Grammy’s during the In Memoriam Segment.


 

The 2025 Grammy’s that took place on Monday had a segment, like every year, to give a tribute to all the artists who passed away in the previous year. The neglection of honoring The Indian table Maestro has made the whole India upset, and many, among the netizens, including the singer Adnan Sami has reacted to the situation. In one of his recent post on Instagram, Adnan Sami expressed his feeling of unsettlement to the Grammy’s for not considering Zakir Hussain and honoring him for the Memoriam Segment.


 

Adnan Sami’s Instagram post stated that:

“Dear Grammy’s, In your ‘Memoriam’, You inexcusably missed mentioning the passing away of the Greatest Tabla Player in the World who was also a 4 time Grammy Winner- Ustad ZAKIR HUSSAIN from India….SHAME ON YOU!

 

Widely regarded as the greatest table player of his generation, Zakir Hussain was Known for his impeccable performances which bought out the Indian classical music to the global audience. During the month of December 2024, Zakir Hussain died from complications arising due to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in San Francisco, California, on 15 December 2024. Even after the death of the Great Tabla Player, he has been often mentioned by the whole world music enthusiasts for his works. In this scenario, when the Grammy’s neglected Zakir Hussain, not only it created a sense of distress among the audience but also made them react to the situation, one such example is what we see of Adnan sami’s Instagram Post.

 

About the 2025 Grammy’s In Memoriam Segment:

On February 2, 2025, The Grammy’s conducted a tribute to the late artists who passed away in 2024, Including Quincy Jones, Foby Keith and Liam Payne. The whole concept of this segment is to remember the legacy of the artists who is no more with us. During this year’s segment Chris Martin sang a piano rendition of “All My Love” by Coldplay, with the background screening of all the late artists’ pictures, by extending tributes to all the legends who passed away.
