The news, which shocked the entire country, has created a lot of panic and anxiety among air travelers. Many people have openly expressed on social media that they are afraid to fly again, even on Air India. Moreover, many passengers who had booked tickets on Air India flights have expressed doubts on social media about whether they will get a refund if they cancel their tickets due to the fear created by the AI-171 disaster. Many wrote that they are afraid to travel on Air India flights.
As people started writing social media posts expressing panic, some responded that there is no need to look at air travel with fear. According to data provided by Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, commercial aviation is one of the safest modes of transport. Some social media users pointed out that some reports say that there have been very few fatal accidents so far and that the chances of dying in a plane crash are about one in 11 million. Earlier, when whistleblowers raised safety issues with Boeing aircraft, many people wrote posts saying that they would abandon Boeing. The phrase ‘If it’s Boeing, I ain’t going’ was widely circulated on social media at that time.
