Bengaluru Rapido row:
The controversy surrounding the Bengaluru Rapido incident is growing, with new details adding a twist to the story. According to a video footage that recently went viral, it’s possible that the woman may have slapped the Rapido driver first, before he allegedly retaliated. This incident, which happened on a busy street in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, has become a major topic of discussion on social media.
The woman who works as a sales associate at a jewelry store in Jayanagar, was on her way to work when the incident began. She asked the driver to stop in the middle of the ride due to his alleged rash driving and violation of signals. This soon turned into a heated exchange. According to reports, the driver then allegedly struck the woman, causing her to nearly fall to the ground in shock.
Police say the woman initially chose not to file a formal complaint, even after repeated requests from the officers. Instead, the police made a non-cognizable report (NCR) and questioned the driver. Later, the woman decided to go forward and file a case. Currently, both the woman and the driver are at the Jayanagar police station for further questioning, and the police are investigating the incident to uncover the complete facts.
This incident highlights the growing tensions between ride-hailing services and their passengers, especially when disputes arise during journeys. Some say the woman might have acted first, adding a dramatic twist to the incident. Others feel the driver used more force than was reasonable, fueling a major controversy.
The Bangalore Police have assured that appropriate legal action will be taken as per the law. The case is currently under investigation, and the authorities are collecting all the relevant information, including video footage and eyewitness testimonies.
