Bharat Bandh on July 9: Major Central Trade Unions and farmers’ organizations have organized a statewide strike in protest of the government’s “pro-corporate, anti-farmer, and anti-worker” policies. They are demonstrating against new labor regulations that hurt workers, the privatization of electricity discoms in Uttar Pradesh, and the general change in policy that puts companies before the general welfare.

According to sources, over 25 crore workers, including farmers and laborers in rural area, are anticipated to participate in the demonstration. In addition, more than 27 lakh workers in the power sector would go on strike to oppose the privatization of two electrical distribution corporations in Uttar Pradesh.

This can cause disruptions in a number of industries, such as banking, transportation, power, etc. Parents and students are therefore worried about whether or not schools and institutions will continue to operate.

Most schools and colleges are expected to remain open during the Bharat Bandh on July 9. Banks may face disruptions, while bus, train, and auto services are likely to be affected. However, metro services are expected to operate normally. Airports and flights will continue to function, though post offices may see some disruption. Shops and markets will mostly stay open, along with government offices and private companies. Hospitals and emergency services will operate without interruption. Internet and mobile services will remain unaffected.
