BSE NSE Holidays: Dalal Street will not be open for business during the final week of August 2025. As the markets get ready for Ganesh Chaturthi’s midweek vacation, investors will only have four working days to trade.

Market Shutdown:
Due to Ganesh Chaturthi, the NSE and BSE will both be closed on Wednesday, August 27. As a result, trade in securities lending and borrowing (SLB), currency derivatives, electronic gold receipts (EGR), equity derivatives, and stocks would be halted for the day. As a reminder to investors that festivals also influence market rhythm, Ganesh Chaturthi, which is observed nationwide with fervor and communal celebrations, will once more halt trading screens. On Thursday, August 28, regular sessions will start up again.

Is the Stock Market Open on Ganesh Chaturthi?
On August 27, the commodities exchange, MCX, will likewise be closed in observance of Ganesh Chaturthi. On that day, there won’t be any trade settlement.

Following Independence Day, when trading was suspended on August 15, Ganesh Chaturthi is the second market holiday in August 2025. In addition, there are two more non-trading days in the latter week of August: Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31. As a result, market operations are essentially limited to four sessions per week.

October will see the next round of market holidays following August.

October Holidays:
On October 2, we will not be trading in honor of Gandhi Jayanti. In addition, there will be another Diwali event on October 21 and 22. As is customary, a special one-hour muhurat trading session will take place on October 21. The exchanges will specify the precise times. In addition to October, the markets will be closed on November 5th in honor of Prakash Gurpurab Sri Guru Nanak Dev and on December 25th in observance of Christmas.
