India Map at Congress’ Bharat Summit in Telangana: Congress party’s Bharat Summit, organized at Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC), has placed itself in the middle of a political row. While tensions are escalating backstage following the terror attack at Pahalgam, the summit was removed for showing an India map that does not include PoJK (Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir) and Ladakh.
A video shared by Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy on X (formerly Twitter) included the provocative map. The photo, according to arguments put forward at the summit, infuriated all. Detractors argued that the exclusion of PoJK and Ladakh gives a dangerous and misleading picture of India’s territorial boundaries.
The BJP’s Telangana State unit was quick to denounce the Congress party, accusing it of indulging in anti-national activities. In a strongly worded X tweet, the BJP called the event a “national betrayal” and an insult to the martyrdom of Indian soldiers. The tweet also accused public money of being squandered on the summit, which further fueled the controversy.
“This is not political stupidity; it’s an attack on India’s sovereignty in the literal sense,” BJP stated. The party further referred to global implications of the misreading as a shameful message to the world.
The row has also infuriated the citizens. Citizens have been tweeting scornfully on social media, where citizens are recording their anger. Telangana Maata, one of the users on X, wrote, “Public-funded summit, anti-national map – INC has officially surrendered Indian land.”
The Congress party has so far not made a formal reaction to the allegations. But the event shadowed the Bharat Summit, which aimed to showcase Telangana as a model state and promote progressive leadership.
