Corona Cases: The resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic has caused concern across the world. New variants are spreading in Singapore, Hong Kong and China. Similarly, people are panicking as cases have been increasing in India since the beginning of this month. 100 new cases have been reported in Delhi. The total number of cases in the country has reached 1,009. Four people have died in Maharashtra, two in Kerala and one in Karnataka. Medical experts, however, say there is no need to worry.
The corona pandemic, which has claimed millions of lives worldwide for the last five and a half years, is once again intensifying. New variants have emerged in Asian countries like Singapore, Hong Kong, and China, and a large number of cases are being reported. There is concern that Covid-19 cases have been increasing in India for the last ten days. Also, the Indian Covid Consortium (Insacag) data has revealed that two new variants of Omicron have been identified in the country. More than 100 new Covid cases have been reported in the national capital Delhi in a week. According to the Central Covid Dashboard, the total number of cases in the country is 1,009, with 104 active cases currently in the national capital Delhi. Of these, 99 cases were reported in the last week. Four corona deaths have occurred in the country.
State-wise, Kerala is at the top with 430 cases. Maharashtra (209 cases), Delhi (104 cases), Gujarat (83 cases), Karnataka (47 cases), Uttar Pradesh (15 cases), and West Bengal (12 cases) have the most cases. Four cases have also been reported in the Telugu states. Andaman and Nicobar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir do not currently have a single active case.
Four people died due to Corona in Maharashtra, Kerala: Two, one in Karnataka. A 21-year-old man, who was undergoing treatment at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Kalwa Hospital in Thane, Maharashtra, tested positive for Covid-19 and died while undergoing treatment. He is the fourth person to die after testing positive for Corona in the Mumbai metropolitan area this week. A senior doctor said that all four of them also had other health problems.
The JN1 variant is believed to be the cause of the current corona cases. It is derived from the Omicron BA.2.86 variant. It was first identified in August 2023. It spreads faster than previous variants. Meanwhile, an 84-year-old man died in Bengaluru due to serious health problems. He tested positive for corona in tests conducted on Saturday. The Karnataka Health Department said that the old man, a resident of Whitefield in the city, died on May 17.
Medical experts and government officials say that most people have mild symptoms and there is no need to panic.
