Delhi Airport travel advisory:
Tensions between India and Pakistan have increased, prompting Delhi Airport to issue a travel advisory for passengers. The advisory urges travelers to stay updated on flight schedules and prepare for possible delays. This action follows escalating border tensions after Pakistan violated a ceasefire agreement just hours after both countries reached it.
In a statement, the airport clarified that while airport operations were continuing as usual, the heightened security measures mandated by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security could lead to adjustments in flight schedules and longer wait times at security checkpoints.
Keep checking for updates from their airlines.
Follow the baggage guidelines set by the airport.
Arrive early to account for potential delays.
Cooperate with airline and security staff for smooth processing.
Check their flight status on the official Delhi Airport website or through their airline.
The advisory also warns passengers to rely only on official updates and avoid sharing unverified information that could cause confusion or panic.
In response to increased security concerns, authorities have temporarily closed 32 airports across Northern and Western India for civil flights from May 9 to May 14.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other aviation authorities made this decision for operational reasons. Some of the affected airports include those in regions like Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Srinagar.
Despite an agreement to halt military actions, relations between India and Pakistan remain tense. In the past days, multiple incidents, including blasts in Jammu and projectiles being fired, have violated the ceasefire, putting additional pressure on the situation.
The Indian government has called on Pakistan to take responsibility for these breaches and handle the situation with seriousness. India’s Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, has urged Pakistan to take steps to resolve the matter responsibly.
For those flying during this period, it is important to stay informed about potential flight adjustments, cancellations, and security delays at airports. Given the current situation, travelers must stay patient and follow all travel advisories to ensure a smooth and safe journey.
