Covid Advisory:
As Covid-19 cases begin to rise again in some parts of India and nearby countries, the Delhi government has released a fresh advisory to hospitals and health centers in the national capital.
This new guideline asks all hospitals to stay prepared for any possible surge in Covid-19 cases. They have been instructed to ensure there are enough hospital beds, oxygen supplies, medicines, vaccines, and medical equipment like ventilators and oxygen concentrators. The government emphasized that all these facilities must be in working condition.
The advisory comes after new cases were reported not just in Delhi, but also in other states such as Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana, and West Bengal. The rise in infections has also been seen in countries like China, Thailand, and Singapore.
Health officials have asked hospitals to send all Covid-positive samples for genome testing to Lok Nayak Hospital to help track the virus strains. They also instructed all health centers to regularly update data on the Delhi State Health Portal.
According to the Union Health Ministry, India reported 257 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, with Kerala recording the highest number—95 active cases. Delhi and other states have reported only mild cases so far. On Friday, Haryana confirmed four new cases, and the patients are under home isolation with medical supervision.
In a recent review meeting held on May 19, experts from major health institutions like the Indian Council of Medical Research and the National Centre for Disease Control assessed the situation. They concluded that the current wave is under control and most cases are mild. No hospitalizations have been required for now.
Health officials urge the public not to panic. However, they recommend staying cautious and following safety measures like wearing masks in crowded areas and practicing good hygiene.
The Delhi government’s proactive steps are aimed at avoiding any strain on the healthcare system and keeping citizens safe.
