Delhi University: Media sources report that Delhi University (DU) will expand its Single Girl Child (SGC) quota to postgraduate (PG) programs starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, aiming to reduce the gender gap in higher education.
Under this policy, DU grants one supernumerary seat in each postgraduate course to a woman student who is the only girl child in her family. DU first implemented this quota for undergraduate (UG) admissions in 2023–2024. Currently, the university offers 77 postgraduate programs. It admits students through the Common University Entrance Test for PG (CUET-PG) and allocates seats via the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).
Single Girl Child Quota:
A DU official told the media that the university aims to create an environment that values girls’ contributions and empowers them to pursue education without barriers. By introducing the new quota, DU intends to expand access to higher education for girls and ensure equal opportunities for all.
The official added that this program is part of DU’s broader inclusion efforts, which already offer supernumerary quotas for athletes, persons with disabilities, orphans, and the spouses and children of military personnel. The university remains committed to providing fair access to education for everyone.

DU’s admission office reported that 849 students secured seats under the Single Girl Child (SGC) quota for the 2024–25 academic year, an increase from 764 last year. The university has now extended this quota to the postgraduate level as well.
This week, Delhi University will launch the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for undergraduate admissions. The university will base admissions solely on CUET-UG 2025 scores. Candidates must upload relevant documents, such as category, EWS, or PwD certificates, verify their CUET scores (which automatically link to their profiles), and enter personal and academic details. To complete the process, applicants must log in using their CUET roll number.
