After an 18 long-year wait, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally hoisted their first IPL Trophy in 2025. While it was a cherished achievement celebrated by millions, it also sparked conversations and debates in the cricketing world. Winning on the cricket pitch is recognised, however, some adverse incidents off the pitch would lead to some critiques and mixed feelings about RCB’s championship campaign.
In the weeks following the RCB win against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the playoffs, media sources were reporting that RCB fans were taunting and harassing CSK fans outside the stadium after the playoff match. Some CSK fans claimed they were engaged by RCB fans as they were laughed at, called names and ultimately, RCB fans ripped some CSK jerseys.

These incidents created a domino effect where there were a lot of reactions from fans, with many calling out the level of toxicity from certain sectors of RCB’s fanbase.
Another incident that created controversy was allegedly when Virat Kohli refused to take a selfie with an Army officer. The details are sketchy, but this also went around on social media with some fans criticising Kohli’s actions.
