Errupalem-Amravati Railway: The Amaravati railway line project is progressing with key developments. Authorities are preparing to construct the Errupalem-Namburu railway line with the first phase covering 27 kilometers. The railway department is set to invite tenders soon to initiate construction.
The railway line will start from Errupalem in Khammam district and connect to Namburu in Guntur district covering a total distance of 57 kilometers. The project will enhance connectivity in the region benefiting passengers and freight transport. The first phase includes laying a 27-kilometer track and building a 3.2-kilometer bridge over the Krishna River.
Land acquisition for the Errupalem-Amaravati section is nearly complete. Construction will be divided into two packages: one for the track and another for the bridge. The project will follow the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, ensuring efficient execution.
The estimated budget for the first phase is ₹450 crores for the track and ₹350 crores for the bridge. The railway department has set a three-year target for project completion. But the Chief Minister has urged officials to complete the track in two years. While railway authorities believe this is feasible, the bridge construction may take up to three years.
The Amaravati-Namburu section (26.5 km) may face delays due to land acquisition issues. Farmers in the Tadikonda region under the CRDA limits are opposing land acquisition, creating obstacles for the project. Officials are working to address these concerns by planning multiple underpasses to minimize disruptions.
Railway authorities are in talks with farmers to resolve land-related issues. If an agreement is reached the tenders for the Amaravati-Namburu section will be issued in the second phase. Additionally a separate tender will be floated for constructing the Amravati railway station, as it is a key station in the capital region.
