Female MP Displays Her Nude Photos in Parliament: Here’s Why

MP Laura McClure: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is currently creating a sensation around the world. AI technology is rapidly expanding into all sectors, regardless of the sector. While there are fears that AI will lead to job losses in many sectors, some companies have already announced layoffs and are putting thousands of employees on the streets.

This is a loss, but another irreparable loss is that creating nude photos and videos with AI deepfakes and posting them on social media, the dark web, and pornographic websites has become a big challenge. From ordinary people to celebrities, these AI deepfakes are being affected. In this context, New Zealand MP Laura McClure has come up with an innovative idea to reveal the dangers of AI deepfakes to the world.

Laura McClure Displays Her AI Created Nude Photos

On this occasion, Laura McClure presented her nude photo created by AI in the New Zealand Parliament. However, it was revealed that this nude photo was created in just 5 minutes. Explaining the harm caused by deepfakes, Laura McClure demanded that changes be made to the laws to prevent this abuse.

Laura McClure, who showed the photo in Parliament, made it clear that it was not real, claiming that the photo was of her naked body. On this occasion, she explained how easy it is to create fake photos that are impossible to tell if they are real or fake. Laura McClure mentioned in Parliament that it was very scary. Even though she knew that the photo was fake.

Laura McClure also shared the photo on her Instagram account. She revealed that she showed her AI nude deepfake photo in Parliament. She only did this to show how it can be easily made to look like a real photo. However, she stated that the problem is not because of the technology. It is to show how it can be used to abuse people. She clarified that the laws need to change accordingly.

She is advocating for legal amendments to include deepfakes in existing laws that prohibit the sharing of private photos without consent. Laura McClure has argued strongly in Parliament that deepfakes can be more harmful than real photos, as they can undermine the dignity and reputation of the people involved.
